Beat 3 eggs with salt, vanilla sugar and regular sugar until lightly fluffy
Add melted butter and milk and mix well
Sift flour with baking powder and fold into the mixture until smooth
Prepare apples by peeling, coring and slicing them
Grease or line a baking tin
Pour half the batter into the tin and spread evenly
Add the sliced apples in a uniform layer
Pour the remaining batter on top and smooth gently
Sprinkle almond flakes if desired
Bake at 180°C for about 30 minutes until golden and a skewer comes out clean
Cool slightly, slice and serve
