Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a 22 × 11 cm loaf tin with parchment paper.
Place the pitted dates in the warm milk and soak for 20 minutes.
Blend the soaked dates and milk until completely smooth.
Transfer the date mixture to a bowl and mix in the eggs.
Add the oat flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Stir gently until just combined.
Fold in the chopped walnuts and optional chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf tin and smooth the top.
Sprinkle with extra walnuts and chocolate chips if desired.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
Cool in the tin for 10–15 minutes, then remove and allow to cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
